Current TAEG projects end on 31 December 2027. Please email TAEG@niaa.gov.au for additional information.

About

Tailored Assistance Employment Grant (TAEG) projects support First Nations people to build work readiness, gain recognised qualifications, and secure sustainable employment through targeted employment pathways. TAEG is a demand driven First Nations specific employment program that allows organisations to provide wrap around support services that benefit job seekers, school-based trainees and cadets to move into employment.

TAEG funding is delivered through three activity streams:

  1. Employment – Supports First Nations job seekers to secure and sustain ongoing employment through guaranteed job placements, pre‑employment support to address barriers, and post‑placement mentoring to improve retention outcomes.
  2. School-based traineeships – Supports First Nations secondary school students to stay engaged in school, complete Year 12, and transition successfully into employment or further study through practical work experience, Certificate‑level qualifications, and part‑time work while studying.
  3. Cadetships –Supports First Nations tertiary students to complete their first undergraduate degree while gaining paid work experience, mentoring, and a clear pathway into employment.
